Small business rally together for Starlight and raise $50,000!

A myriad of small-to-medium businesses across the country joined forces and participated in an inspiring national campaign to support 25 years of the Starlight Children’s Foundation - Raising over $50,000 for the charity!

Hundreds of businesses showcased a unique experience, special deal or exclusive offer on group buying website www.LivingSocial.com/Australia and $2 from each deal sold was donated by LivingSocial, (not the deal’s earnings) to the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

Surfers Paradise business, Infinity Attraction, sold more than 1660 deals and raised $3320 for the Starlight Children’s Foundation. This business, managed by Tane Thompson, raised the most funds of all Queensland businesses for the Starlight initiative with a stand-out deal of over 50 per cent off admission rates.

Louise Baxter, CEO of the Starlight Children’s Foundation welcomed the support from LivingSocial and their merchants at a special presentation breakfast hosted at Randwick Children’s Hospital’s Starlight Express Room.

“The support of the businesses such as Infinity Attractions and the customers who purchased their specially created Starlight offer will go a long way to help us continue our work.  Last year Starlight programs supported over 129,000 children in hospitals across Australia. Without donations like this, we would not be able to deliver our vital programs that support the wellbeing and resilience of Australia’s seriously ill children and their families seven days per week.  We thank all who participated for their generosity during our 25th year,” said Louise.

Adam Rigby, CEO of LivingSocial, said, “The response from Australian small business and our members to joining our campaign was exceptional. By coming together we created a national network of support to celebrate the important work of the Starlight Children’s Foundation. We want to thank Infinity Attractions for their exceptional deal that was so integral to the success of the campaign.”

The Starlight deals were promoted both locally, through LivingSocial’s network of 35 hyper-local markets, and nationally to more than 2.5 million people via www.livingsocial.com and social media channels - Facebook and Twitter.

Starlight Children’s Foundation is one of Australia’s most trusted charities. Its programs are considered by health professionals as 'integral' to the total paediatric care of seriously ill children across Australia. Starlight is currently the only children’s charity with a permanent presence in every major paediatric hospital in Australia, delivering programs seven days a week. Starlight’s innovative programs are based on the World Health Organisation's social model of health to support wellbeing and resilience.

Infinity Gold Coast and TripAdvisor Reviews

Those of you that have experienced the Gold Coast and the surfers paradise attractions will know you can't step past Infinity Surfers Paradise. Check out some of our recent visitors to the infinity maze and what they thought.
  • 5 of 5 starsReviewed January 18, 2012 from Joyouss from Perth, Visited October 2011
    It feels like an incredible never-ending world of special effects and magical lights. Lots of fun for all ages.

  •  “Fabulous”
    5 of 5 starsReviewed September 3, 2011 from keeptravelling Hobart, Visited February 2011
    Visited Infinity with 4 older teenagers and had expectations of an overpriced, boring waste of an hour - how wrong I was. I was mesmerised from the first 'room' and had an absolute ball, laughing at myself and all the members of our group.
    It is hard to describe Infinity - suffice to say, it is a unique experience and one that should not be missed!

  • 5 of 5 starsReviewed May 14, 2012 from Tulinfirenze Perth western Australia, Visited May 2011
     If you are visiting the Gold Coast you simply owe it to yourself to come to this one of a kind attraction!

    I had read the reviews before my holiday and was VERY MUCH looking forward to it! Because of Infinity's unique nature it can be hard to describe it, hence my partner's initial reticence based on my lame attempt, garnered from the aforementioned reviews. Once we arrived and entered however, he changed his mind instantly!

    As for my review, all I can say is what Infinity was for US. We were lucky enough to visit at a quiet time in the evening and thus had the place pretty much to ourselves. What we found was a series of rooms (not so much a "maze" as some people have called it since each room flows on from the next, although it may take a minute or so to find the concealed door) each themed to different effect using mirrors, lights, lasers, music, sound effects, different surfaces, props, altered scales and various levels of illumination. Our favourites included the room which makes you feel like you are inside a giant computer (I kept thinking, "This is what Tron must feel like!")With strings of "electrons" flashing all around you. The other was the immediately following "space" room where the effect is of being completely surrounded by stars in the blackness of night. I just wanted to sit down in the middle of the floor and imagine myself floating in space with nothing else around me. Simply BREATHTAKING! Our only complaint with this room was that the new agey music was, at times a bit too loud. We theorized that this must be to drown out the sounds of the previous corridor with its "alien" theme.

    The place is just INCREDIBLE and as you are drawn further in your senses of play and adventure are aroused and excited. As a person who works with elderly people with dementia I am keenly aware of the need for adults to play. I am also aware of the effects of various sensory stimuli and what this can do for the mind through the use of "snoezelen rooms". Infinity is just a much larger and more elaborate version of this proven technique and as such, I can say its effect was palpable, exciting and eminently successful - so much so that we returned a few nights later to enjoy it, alone, all over again! I would HEARTILY recommend this incredible attraction to people of all ages with a slight caveat for children younger than, say, eight or children with phobias to do with darkness or claustrophobia.

    As you can see it is a must on your Gold Coast itinerary. Find us on Facebook for posted special discounts and all the latest news for Surfers Paradise and the gold coast theme parks

Gold Coast Hospital Foundation Masquerade Ball

One of our main foundations Infinity Attraction Surfers Paradise supports is the Gold Coast Hospital Foundation.

The Gold Coast Hospital Foundation is a community based organisation that was established to raise funds for health services and research for the Gold Coast Health Service District.

Gold Coast Hospital Foundation will become the “Charity of Choice” among all communities on the Gold Coast of Queensland.

In achieving its Mission and Vision, Gold Coast Hospital Foundation will develop collaborative fundraising mechanisms and activities to grow the base of health and medical research funding within the whole Gold Coast communities while improving the visibility and community engagement in promoting a culture of philanthropic giving among our staff and the communities it serves.
These aspirations will be achieved within the Gold Coast Health Service District through the following objectives:
  • To increase the volume and diversity of sources of funds raised in support of the Gold Coast Health Services District through the ethical, accountable and transparent fundraising activities;
  • Supporting good health and excellence in patient care;
  • Providing state of the art equipment and facilities;
  • Encouraging and supporting research;
  • Promoting and supporting education programs;
  • Active involvement in health promotion;
  • Encouraging community understanding of and participation in health programs.
If you would like to support them, the Annual Masquerade Ball is on Friday 25th May,2012

  • The Foundation's Gala is to be held in the exquisite Princeton Room at Bond University.
  • The proceeds from the evening will be directed towards the children facilities at both Robina and Southport Hospital sites.

  • This wonderful event will commence with cocktails and canapes under the stars in the Atrium at 6.45 pm for 7.00 pm with the amazing young musicians who make up the Somerset College Senior String Quartet.
  • The main event will commence at 7.30 pm promptly. So, don't be late or you may miss a key activity (maybe the entree).

  • Our entertainment for the evening will be provided by local covers band Kickstart who will cater for all tastes and abilities and, yes, there will be dancing.
  • Entree tickets will be provided for attending. Each card will be numbered and your guests are encouraged to ensure they bring them along on the night. Not only will they be confirmation of their placement at the event but they also may be useful when we conduct our lucky door prize.
